Let’s face it- the majority of us need to work for a living. What job you choose to do reflects on how happy (or miserable) you will be in life. You should love going to work each day. So before just choosing any job, ask yourself what is it that you value most? For most of us, the ability to financially support ourselves and our families usually tops the list. Income is really the main goal but why should it be the only goal? Maybe you don’t want to sit and stare at a computer all day? Maybe the thought of a nine to five gives you the creeps- why does anyone have to work that hard? Perhaps you want a job that feels more like a career with room for advancement? You might value a job where you help people or a job where you feel useful… a job where you can just be yourself… Kind of like how you feel when you’re hanging out with your friends on the weekends… if you are sitting there nodding your head, you should get a job bartending! Seriously, become a professional bartender! The tips and pay are fantastic, you get to network with many amazing people, you’re not chained to a desk, you help people have a good time, you make tasty and creative cocktails, you get to listen to and tell jokes, and you end up being the most popular person in the room because of it. You’re not working a 40-hour week but you’re still getting paid like you are! The free time to do “you” stuff is really what life is all about! Best of all, your skill is portable. Take it with you to any state in the US or any country on the planet- Bartending is universal and landing a bartending job with the right training under your belt is easy!!
Do you need to go to Bartending School? Absolutely not! You also don’t need to go to go to college but finding a high-paying job without a degree can be close to impossible. Almost all bar managers and bar owners will hire a well-trained bartender fresh out of Bartending School over someone with no experience. There are still bars and restaurants out there that train bartenders from the ground up but the process is not easy and usually not as fast or efficient as you hope it to be. Typically, you are hired into a position other than bartender. You start at the bottom of the restaurant’s food chain in positions such as a table busser, dishwasher, bar back or server. If you are one of the chosen few, you might start your bar training in a year or two. If you are unlucky (and most are) you will never reach the top of the food chain. Why go through the headache? Enroll in one of Capitol Bartending School’s quick, easy and fun 40 hour classes and get behind the bar immediately!
This isn’t like any other class you’ve ever taken! Our classroom is an actual bar, our chairs are barstools, our pencils are bottles filled with alcohol and our paper is green and the only place you will find it is in the cash register. We don’t waste any time in your training. You are working behind the bar immediately learning about bar set up and break down, personal body language, order of operations, cash handling, point of sale system operations, customer service, inventory and all drink preparation techniques and recipes as well as speed. You won’t believe how much you will learn in our bartending class until you ace that first interview and land your first bartending job!
